Bringing Up Bates

caabbates

For several years now, I have followed the Bates family.  The Bates are friends of the Duggar family, who have 19 children as well.  I was so disappointed when their show, “United Bates of America” was not renewed on TLC several years ago.  Well, I am happy to say they are back on the UP Network!  The series premier of “Bringing Up Bates” was last week and my family thoroughly enjoyed it.  It is so refreshing to see a television show about the joys of family living, instead of the dysfunctions.

Kelly Bates is an inspiration to me.  With seven children, I sometimes feel like my hands are full.  It is awesome to watch a mother of 19 raise her children with such love and grace.  The fruit seen in her children’s lives is a testament to their godly raising.  Training children is no easy task, and the Bates are proof positive that children can be raised for the Lord in today’s culture.  Watching three of the adult children in their marriages is a delight as well.

I’m looking forward to watching this season.   I have also gleaned much wisdom from the Bates at Embassy Institute online.  Gil’s testimony of How to Support a Family of 19 Without a Salary is amazing.  To view these resources a small subscription fee is required.

If you have broadcast television, you might want to take a look at the show on UP Network at 9 pm eastern time on Thursdays.   My family will be tuning in!

  1. I loved the first episode!

As far as media we love the show THEO. Our kids are young (6, 4, 2 and 9 months), but it’s a great show.
