With my oldest currently in 10th grade, we have been homeschooling for 11+ years now. When I first began homeschooling, I tried really hard to stick to a schedule. Really, I did. But through the years I realized that sometimes life and learning just happen when we least expect it.
Sometimes we just go with it, and other times we are more structured. One thing is for certain, with seven children, someone is always learning something in our home.
While we don’t always stick to the schedule, I would like to share a short video about what a day in our homeschool typically looks like. I would also love to share a free scheduling printable that I originally made for my own kiddos.
There are not a lot of tiny squares here, but one large section for each day. I ask the child to write in any must do’s for the day (such as ballet and guitar lessons), so that they can structure their school work around that. In our home, we flow between independent and teacher-oriented work. My high schoolers are almost entirely independent, my kindergartener works entirely with me, and the others are somewhere in between.
At the bottom of the planner, I included the verse Proverbs 16:3. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. Words to live by. I hope that my children are reminded to seek The Lord in all that they do whenever they are using their planning sheet.
I made a short video describing a peek into our homeschool day below. Feel free to take a look.
I would absolutely love to hear about how you structure your homeschool day. I adore gleaning wisdom from other homeschoolers! Please feel free to comment below. Thank you so much for stopping by, and many blessings from our home to yours!
