Encouragement for Moms

God’s Strength is Enough for Mothers

twins-strength

We recently brought our eighth child home from the hospital.  Sometimes this number is still mind boggling to me.  Do we really have eight children?  (Ahem, yes.  Yes we do.)  We have plunged back into the routine of feedings every two hours, diaper blow outs, and a few hours less sleep.  All of which are so totally worth it, by the way.  But to my tired, postpartum body, it sometimes seems like a lot.  It feels like with the delivery of my child my physical strength has left me.  Postpartum was completely different in my twenties.  I can definitely tell that I have aged when it comes time for my body to heal after giving birth.

I have found myself really struggling at times, and then I remind myself to turn to God and His Word.  I have been taught time and time again by the Lord that when I am weak, He is strong.  His strength is enough, and His grace is sufficient.  Praise God that I don’t have to walk through life without Him!  He has helped me so much as I’ve dealt with various healing and feeding issues.  And I must say, these issues have been a blessing in disguise.

What I mean by this is, we really must view any and all trials that we face as being sent directly from the Lord, to help us conform to be more like Jesus.  God is sovereign, and not a single thing on this earth happens without Him knowing about, and giving the okay for it to happen.  And it is all for His glory.

Glorifying God in the midst of our trials is exactly what He would like for us to do.  We must admit that without the Lord we are nothing, and rely on Him to carry us through.

While bringing a new baby home is hardly a trial (really, it is one of the biggest blessings imaginable), I’ve found that it is so important to keep my mind aligned with things above, instead of on whatever earthly circumstance is troubling me.   Remembering that God has my good in mind though it all helps me to retain a heavenly perspective.

Friend, if you are a Christ follower than the Lord has your good in mind, too.  And He will give you the strength you need to walk through life, and He’ll carry you if He needs to.  His strength is enough, and God shows Himself strong when we are at our weakest.  If you are a mom, might I encourage you to leave your weaknesses at our Savior’s feet?  He will meet you where you are and show Himself to be strong.  The power of Christ is great, ladies!  He wants to lead us as we raise our children for His glory.

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
