Our Home is a Haven

While trying to get out of debt, my kids and I have been staying home.  A lot.

At first, it really got on my nerves.  I kind of felt trapped and confined between our home’s four walls.

I talk a lot about raising our children up for the Lord.  I love the freedom that homeschooling allows our family.

But I always did these things on the go.  There was rarely a day when we were all home.

But the Lord has gently been teaching me a lesson over the past few months.  Our home is more than a resting place at night.  It should be a haven for our family all day, every day.

Mommas, we are called to create an environment for our family to flourish in.  I’ve neglected this task for far too long!  I’ve noticed bits and pieces of life improve as I’ve embraced staying close to home.

My children can’t wait to see what’s for dinner each night.  We’ve had so much fun exploring the outdoors, and reading under the covers.  When it’s time to go somewhere lately, the children would rather stay put.  It’s shocking, really!  We recently stayed home for a six day stretch, and it seemed…nice.  Imagine the thought!

I’m always learning, always growing.  I’m so thankful to have a patient Father who gently guides me when I don’t know the way.

Thanks for sharing! We’ve had to do the same thing since we moved into the country. We’ve had to adjust, but you’re right, there’s something pleasant about not having some place to be constantly! I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s having to learn this later. 🙂

My family is also currently trying to become debt free… We are very close praise God! So I stay home all day with my kids about 4-5 days a week, every week. It gets better I promise! It will become your new normal and then going out places with the kids or your whole family will be more exciting… even if its just the regular trip to the grocery store. I am way less stressed not leaving our home most days. We have a lot more time for homeschool projects or long trips out in the woods because our days are less interrupted by having to go a lot of places. Not to mention I find it easier to stay on top of managing my home when I am actually home haha.
    Have a lovely week Nicole!
