Have you ever wondered why essential oils might vary from batch to batch?
While it makes sense why oils might vary from company to company, why would they vary within the same brand?
The answer can be found in a term called secondary metabolites. These are organic compounds made within plants which play a huge role in how the plant interacts with it’s environment.
These secondary metabolites constantly process information due to either a healthy or stressful environment. I find it simply amazing that God created plants this way!
And this relates to essential oils, how?
Volatile terpenoids are secondary metabolites found in essential oils.
So, when the environment around the plant changes, the essential oil changes. This is one of the reasons why individual batch testing is so important.
When researching essential oil companies, make sure they disclose batch numbers before you buy.

Interesting. Been using essential oils for a pretty long time. Will have to check into batch numbers from the companies I order from. 🙂 Would love to invite you to share with my readers at the Literacy Musing Mondays link-up: http://www.brandiraae.com/literacy-musing-mondays-march-13-18/
