As much as I try to focus on the lovely for my family’s sake, sometimes a terrible event takes place in a community close to home.
Today, there was a police shooting near my sleepy hometown. Not a male, but a female police officer was shot and killed. She left behind a husband and a three-year-old son.
Oh, how so many have grieved for this young woman! This shouldn’t be so.
How did we get to a place where females are taking on the role of community protectors? Ladies, I fear that we have brought this onto ourselves. In the name of equality, we are putting ourselves in situations where God never intended us to be.
I pray that we will step back into our God-ordained roles and allow men to protect and lead. Let’s aim to be “heros” in our family’s eyes, and not put our lives on the line for our city, county, or country. God’s ways are always best, even if they seem contrary to human thinking.
I pray that this young woman’s family will be wrapped in the comfort that only the Lord can give. A sweet little boy is going to sleep without a mother tonight. What a travesty!
