Teaching Our Daughters About Biblical Womanhood

Teaching our daughters about Biblical Womanhood is so very important. Several years ago, my oldest daughters and I went through much of the Bright Lights material together (which I highly recommend).

Over the past few months, my eleven-year-old and I began a study about Modesty by Queen Homeschool. Yesterday, I had an epiphany that it would be a good idea to have a “girls club” to discuss the material with all of my daughters.

All of us girls, including my one-year-old, gathered together to talk. Our daughters are never too young to be taught in the way they should go. I must admit that I have made mistakes along the way, and not all of my daughters feel as strongly about Biblical Womanhood as I do. It is hard to be a mama sometimes, and I hate that my oldest daughters have been especially privy to my parenting mistakes as I learn how to best raise my children for God’s glory.

Anyhow, we discussed what a blessing it is to be a lady, and how there is such strength in a quiet and gentle spirit. We talked about how a gentle answer turns away wrath, and how we don’t need to argue to get our way.

We ended our time together by talking about our tone of voice. Even this should be evidence of the Hope that is within us. Oh, how I fail at this at times.

I really like the Puritan resource, “The Quest for Meekness and Quietness of Spirit.” This can be found on Amazon, and is part of my personal library. It is very encouraging, in a no nonsense kind of way.

My youngest daughters definitely didn’t understand everything that was discussed, but I hope they felt included and loved. My five-year-old was so cute. She “hosted” the meeting in her room, and she worked hard to “clean” beforehand. I hope that this will become a new tradition for us!

I hope y’all have a blessed week! We are back into the swing of things now after a short Thanksgiving break.

Our Thanksgiving table. I adore my Lazy Susan. You can find it here.

I plan to share several Sabbath resources that I’ve been working on here next week. Hope to see you soon!

What a great idea to include your younger daughters as well! I look forward to starting a “girls club” with my girls. I have four daughters and have definitely made parenting mistakes. My oldest, unfortunately, was more affected by my careless parenting in her early years. It is a continuing struggle to try to overcome that neglectful time so I am diligent about not repeating my mistakes with my younger daughters. Thank you and God bless!

It’s never too early to teach our children. Remember we are faithful, not flawless and children really absorb what we do and all the intangibles, not just what we say.
