Requiring obedience from our children can be so tough! I want to be the “nice guy”. I want to show God’s attributes of mercy and grace. But at the same time, I know that obedience must be taught. After all, salvation is a covenant of obedience.
I was greatly encouraged this morning by John Piper and his article, Parents, Require Obedience of Your Children. We must be diligent to teach them diligently, and hold our children accountable. This mirrors the authority that they will continually be held accountable to as adults.
I hope your weekend is lovely. Friday is our “Home Blessing” Day, and we are going to remember the rest we have in Jesus by having a special Sabbath meal this evening. My children are excited that their favorite Black Friday purchase, a new swing-set, has arrived, and hopefully Rusty can get started on it tomorrow. So many simple joys to look forward to!
Thank you so much for stopping by! I would love to connect with you on Facebook. I’d also like to invite you to my Mary & Martha Facebook Page, or to look at beautiful and inspiring Mary & Martha home decor. It is a such a blessing to serve you!
