Today, I headed down our big hill to our small branch to splash around a bit and to talk to a couple of my children. We laughed as I held my sweet baby close while water rushed over my feet.

We looked at our garden, and ate freshly baked Cinnamon Apple Pie Bread. Overall, my children were in good spirits, and the mood was joyful and light.

As mamas, we have such influence over the tone of our homes. Today, I made the choice to look for the good and to do my best to live for the Lord. By doing this, I have the ability to bring happiness into my home. And so do you.

All of my days aren’t like this, unfortunately. Some days I barely slept at all, and I’m just thankful to be alive, ha! My attitude is the last thing on my mind.

But we can turn things around with a big helping of God’s grace. We can choose to relish each little everyday blessing that crosses our path. We can bring happiness into our homes with smiles, encouraging words, yummy food, pretty music, and simply our presence. Yes mama, simply being home with your children can bring them a sense of security and happiness that money can’t buy.

While life has been pleasant today, it hasn’t been perfect. There has been potty training troubles. I believe my baby is teething, and I needed to have a serious homeschool related talk with one of my children.

But despite those things, I’ve decided to be happy…because I know my attitude largely sets the tone around here. What a huge responsibility!

The Lord will meet us where we are, and can help us bring so much joy into our homes, ladies. When we fail, He offers us the grace needed so we can try again. What a beautiful calling we have!
