Dedicating Our Days to God

The fan air feels cold on my cheek as a tiny foot jabs into my side. I hold Moses close while reaching for my phone. 6:58. Ah, how can it be morning already? I’m tired after a restless night with a little one who still doesn’t care to sleep all the way through.

I stretch, and then begin to ponder our day. My husband is required to work overtime today, and has already left. There doesn’t seem to be much to do, and yet there’s lots. As a mama, I know I will need to be there for the hearts and minds of my little ones, even if it’s the weekend.

But first things first. This day belongs to God, and I need to dedicate it to Him.

He is my precious Abba, and He has made this day. What does He want me to do? What does He want me to say?

I urge you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice—holy, acceptable to God—which is your spiritual service.

After the sacrifice of our Messiah, God’s children were no longer required to spill the blood of bulls and goats to atone for their sins.

But now, we are called to a spiritual service. We are asked to present our bodies up each and every day as a living sacrifice.

Not dead, but living. We are to offer our bodies up as walking, breathing, living sacrifices to Him. Our every breath can offer a sacrifice of praise by walking meekly in the footsteps of our Father. This is what dedicating our days and lives to God is about.

Earlier in the week I was having a bad morning. I snapped at my husband, and I called something my daughter wanted to do “foolish.”

I wasn’t building up my home, but instead, was tearing it down. I hadn’t dedicated my day to the Lord as I should have.

But thankfully, He offers mercy! I was able to apologize to both parties, and pray for the Lord to help me speak life into my family.

Today, before my feet hit the floor I want to dedicate my life to Him. He has been so good to give us this day.

I hope your day is blessed too, ladies.
