A Weekly Glimpse Into Our Home #13

Happy Tuesday, ladies! The days are getting warm and my kiddos are itching for summer. I, on the other hand, relish the beauty and (relative) coolness of spring. Georgia summers can be simply sweltering! Granted, we are in north Georgia, but it can get very warm and humid where we live.

I’ve been working in the garden, and transplanting the plant starts that I have. We had a late frost last week, and I lost a lot of my tomatoes and peppers. Everything under frost blankets, sheets, and styrofoam cups perished. The plants under cardboard boxes lived! This was a lesson for me, and I will definitely be sticking to cardboard boxes from now on if the need arises.

I’ve done some computer work this week. I’ve updated the website for my children’s boutique, marking several of my outfits down to $34.00 with free shipping. I’ve also signed up my three youngest daughters for ballet lessons next fall…with one of my oldest daughters as the teacher! Ladies, knowing that my girls will be taught by their sister just about brought tears to my eyes, ha! My nineteen-year-old has been dancing at two professional ballet companies this year, and now is being offered a teaching position. She can hardly believe that she is being paid to do what she loves.

We went to the zoo on Sunday, which was so much fun. My little girls wore their Dollar Tree sun hats, and they were the cutest! My middle three also brought their cameras and took over 100 pictures. They were definitely excited to be there. We have a family membership, and skipped the gift shop this time around. Frugal family fun!

Happy little camerawomen!

My husband and I also spent some time exploring the mountains over the weekend. We almost got stuck at one point, and had to back up for quite a ways…it was quite the adventure!

I’ve really enjoyed spending time away with my family this week. As much as I hate to admit it, I’m not loving our current home. I’m very grateful to have it…the outdoor space is wonderful. Otherwise though, I’ve been in a bit of a funk. We pretty much bought the cheapest thing we could find that would meet our needs last year, and while I believe it was a wise financial decision and what the Lord wanted us to do, I’ve realized it wasn’t the decision my “heart” wanted to make.

But our hearts can be deceitful, can’t they? That’s what I keep telling myself. The problem is that I fell in love with our cabin when we were living there full time, and I would love to live in a rustic home again.

We are doing what we can to make our current home beautiful, but my husband is hesitant to redo the walls and ceilings in tongue and groove pine boards, ha! Which is totally understandable, especially given the current price of lumber.

So for now, I’m dreaming of the future while doing my absolute best to appreciate what we have. We have been truly blessed. And the best blessings don’t come in the form of drywall of wood paneling, but in our relationship with God, His Word, and our families.

Thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable for a minute. I hope all of you are having a good week with your families!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
