Good morning, ladies! I realize I’ve been MIA lately. I’ve had full intentions to blog the last few days, but life has simply gotten in the way. Besides tending to my Etsy shop, we have resumed our homeschool lessons and have been busy all around.
Our new school year is going great! I’m teaching five of my children this year, since my oldest three have graduated. The bulk of our day is spent working through Master Books and Christian Light Education curriculum. Our last few pieces should arrive today.
I have been working hard on my own health lately. I want to be an active mama for my children for as long as possible. I turned forty last year, and I definitely can tell that my body doesn’t always behave as it used to. I have switched over to a nearly 100% vegan diet yet again, thanks to books like How Not to Die by Michael Greger and Eat to Live by Dr. Fuhrman. I was eating this way for awhile until I got pregnant with Moses, and then my food aversions and sickness got the best of me. Before my pregnancy, I felt absolutely amazing. My skin and hair was doing great, too. I’m excited to hopefully reap these benefits again before long! Here is a fun recipe for you:
2 frozen chopped bananas
1/2 cup almond milk
2 TBSP cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
Blend until smooth, and sprinkle with chopped nuts if you’d like! Return to the freezer for a bit if you’d like a firmer consistency.
I’ve also started a Couch to 5k program using an app on my phone. My fifteen-year-old daughter, along with some of my younger children, are joining me. Now, I’m not sure if I’ll ever actually be able to run a 5k, but so far, it’s been a great workout. We run up and down our driveway.
I’m currently 3 pounds away from what I thought would be my goal weight, but I still think I have some weight to lose. Two more pounds would put me in the high range of a “healthy” BMI, but I think my body still has the ability to shed some fat.
We have also been working on a few projects around the cabin. Now that my mother-in-law has moved out, we are contemplating selling it. While I love it so much, I honestly don’t know how much actual use we would get out of it since our small homestead is here, and it’s hard to leave it. We’ve thought about renting it, but don’t think now is the best time to be a landlord, if you know what I mean.
I’m also trying to look ahead to the Biblical Fall Feasts. I don’t want them sneaking up on me this year. We also have two birthdays in August, and two birthdays in September. Such a busy and blessed time!
I hope to be back on Friday with our Let Me Be a Woman study. Have a blessed week, everyone!
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalms 19:7-10 NKJV
