We are long term homeschoolers…I have been teaching my children at home for 18 years! Homeschooling has been a tremendous blessing to our family, and I recommend it to everyone.
I usually work through a “light and gentle” preschool curriculum with my children. My daughter Mabrey is a new five-year-old, and right now we are using my usual Pre-K curriculum with her. I use Christian Light Education’s Kindergarten 2 program as a base, and then add in a few other resources. I just buy the five “workbooks,” and go through it without the teacher’s guide. Instructions for each page are printed within the workbooks, so I haven’t found the guide to be necessary. This is a very inexpensive way to do it.
I’d love to share a YouTube video where I go into more detail above. Now, I haven’t posted much on YouTube in forever. I’ve downloaded a new video app on my phone, and I’m not the greatest at it. But perhaps you might find a few new resources to use with your children by watching.
Preschool is such a fun time. Children are usually so excited to learn, and it’s the perfect time for new homeschool moms to get acclimated to teaching as well. Teaching doesn’t have to be difficult. Who knows your children better than you do? No one!
I hope you have a wonderful day, ladies. If you have any questions about teaching preschool, please just let me know.
A bit of encouragement for you before leaving:
“All things have been handed over to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and ‘you will find rest for your souls.’ For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:27-30 TLV
