Sabbath Thoughts | Physical and Spiritual Blessings + Donations for Orphanage

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:35‭-‬39 NKJV

Today I would like to share a few thoughts about the love of God with you. He is such a good God, who loves us so much.

I’m reminded of His love when I look at the physical blessings He has given me. I have a sweet family, a warm home, clothing, and plenty to eat. I’ve been richly blessed in this way.

But the best blessings we have are spiritual. When the physical blessings just don’t seem to be there, and we face tribulation, we can know that these things will not ever separate us from the love of Christ.

Love came down to literally die for us. The Father sent His Son to atone for our sins so we could live with Him forever. This is a great reason to rejoice, despite whatever circumstances we may face on this earth.

When I was lost, the things I lived for didn’t have any true meaning. I didn’t understand the vastness of God’s love, and His desire to have a relationship with me. With me! Little ol’ me. It’s almost hard to believe. But His love overshadowed all of my past failings, and He saved me to a new life.

He wants to do the same with you. He loves you so much. He is a God of renewal, and of second chances. We can be more than conquerors through Him who loved us. This is the key here. Our goal to be conquerors should be to glorify Him, not ourselves.

While spiritual blessings are the best type of blessings, we can show God’s love to others by physically blessing them, too. My twenty-year-old daughter has felt led to collect donations for local orphanages for three years now, and if you would like to contribute to her efforts, I’m going to share our mailing address below. The orphanage she is collecting for this year is asking for toiletry items such as shampoo, soap, toilet paper, etc. She will be collecting donations for another week or two.
