Modest Monday | Long Brown Skirt

Happy Monday, friends! As I’m writing this, it is actually the Sabbath. It’s been a nice day of relaxing. I plan to open a new book soon, and we will be opening Hanukkah presents within an hour or two. It is a good and blessed day. A precious gift from our Father in heaven.

Today I would like to share with you a completely thrifted outfit. To be honest, I haven’t gone “thrifting” in quite some time, but I still have a good bit of items from past treasure hunts. I probably will go shopping again soon, since I really would like to find a couple of denim skirts that fit me better now that my fitness level is different than it used to be.

My favorite part of this outfit is likely the brown skirt. It is a soft, stretchy material, and is a bit thicker than most of my skirts. It is absolutely perfect for cooler temperatures.

I think the top is super pretty, but it has some cutouts on the back near my shoulders. So when I wear it, I’m sure to put a cardigan on with it.

I’m wearing a pair of cowgirl boots that my husband purchased for my birthday several years ago. They are very nice, but by the end of the day my feet were hurting. They have a slight heel, and I’m not used to wearing heels at all any longer. Overall, I did enjoy wearing them, though.

It was lots of fun to put together this outfit that likely cost less than $10.00. All of the pieces are in good shape, and I hope to wear them for years to come.

I would love to encourage you to take your clothing choices to the Lord. I do believe that our clothing choices are an actual moral issue to be considered. Our God has been so good to convict and refine me in this area over the past ten years.

On another note, I have been battling tremendous hair loss since having Covid several months ago. This is no surprise to me, because I’m very prone to this during postpartum times, and my hair is thin and fine to begin with. If anyone has any suggestions that I can try, I’m all ears. I’m taking supplements, and have switched over to an expensive shampoo. After the birth of my eighth child, covering my hair with a bandana and avoiding brushing helped after a couple of months, but I really don’t want to resort to that at this point.

I hope you have a nice day, ladies. I pray the Lord blesses and keeps you.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, And gathered out of the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, That they might go to a city for a dwelling place. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

So strange about the hair loss. But—no joke—I was literally just talking to someone ten minutes ago about her hair loss since covid. That virus does strange things! I’ve been having recurring headaches way more frequently since covid. Not sure if it’s related but I’m kind of over it!

I love thrifting! Especially for quality skirts and sweaters. I’m thankful for the ladies who get tired of their nice things so I can find them!

I have a pair of short boots with a thick heel 9; maybe 1 1/2 to 2ā€. My feet do get sore with them, so I reserve them for Sabbaths.

Thank you so much for visiting, Laurie! I’ve heard of several other ladies having hair loss after Covid, and my older daughter has, too. I’m so sorry about your headaches! It was the strangest virus I’ve ever experienced!
