This week has been lazy, and just about perfect so far. I have been working through some goals and plans for the new year, like I’m sure many of you have. Yesterday, I tweaked some of our family’s financial goals, which I might talk about later. For today, I’d like to dive into fitness goals, though. I found a fun program that I plan to utilize into the new year, and I wanted to tell you about it.
This year, I decided to take back the health the Lord so graciously has given me. I was not being a good steward of it…at all. During the summer, I decided to start jogging to improve my lung health. As a bonus, I’ve since lost 39 pounds. I feel amazing. Like I’m in my mid-twenties at least, though I’m actually 41.

On Thanksgiving, I decided to run my first 5k. It was tough, but I did it! Before the race, I was motivated to jog every other day in preparation for it. But after the race, I realized that I was starting to lose motivation.
I decided to sign up for another 5k at the beginning of the year, but there are none in my area until April. At this point, I’m not willing to travel far for a 5k. I want this lifestyle change to be a blessing, and not a burden, to my husband and family.
But friends, I really needed motivation. So I continued looking. While browsing online, I discovered at program called yes.fit, and I think it just what I was looking for. (By the way, this post is in no way sponsored).

Yes.Fit has “races” that you can sign up for that take you all over the world. A couple of days ago, I completed a 21 mile virtual race in Canada. Now I’m starting to work through a 79 mile race in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
You do this at your own pace, and you can walk it, run it, whatever. When you sign up for the event, you choose a reward for finishing. For example, I chose a $27 medal for the 79 mile race I’m working through now. It will be shipped to me once I complete it, which I imagine will take two months or so. This is more cost effective for me than running an actual 5k, which usually costs around $30 for 3.1 miles.

Basically, my fitness goals for 2022 is to keep doing what I’m doing, and I think this will definitely help me. I aim to run 3-4 times per week, for at least 30-40 minutes. Yesterday, I jogged for 50 minutes straight for the first time ever. I was really happy about that. My sweet husband has been joining me, and is doing so good!

On my off running days, I ride our indoor bicycle for thirty minutes or do some strength training. My goal is to exercise for at least thirty minutes a day, for the rest of my life. I’m sure that I will miss days here or there, but this is my goal. My husband getting fit with me has been such a blessing, and has helped me with accountability.
I know that making exercise a habit will help me in the long run. At this point, I pretty much exercise every morning automatically. It will be even easier when Moses is bigger and in his own bedroom.
So that’s about it. If you are not currently exercising, I’d like to encourage you that small steps are better than nothing at all. Even walking with your children for 15 minutes each day is a big step in the right direction. Our bodies were created by God to move. They are capable of so much if we take good care of them.
