Oh, what a nice week it’s been! I must admit that I haven’t done much of anything important. I kind of view the last week of the year as a “reset” week. It’s a good time for me to reflect on accomplishments of the year, while thinking about possible goals I might have for the new one.
Earlier in the week, I posted about an app I plan to use to keep my fitness goals in line, but I haven’t shared about anything else yet. I know a lot of people choose a word of the year, but I don’t think I’m going to do that this time around. I simply want to focus on the individual “sections” of my life, and think of ways I can make them better. Do you make any goals? If so, I’d love to hear about them!
So without further ado, this is what I hope to accomplish this year:
Spiritually…
I would like to continue growing in my knowledge of the Lord, and learn to be more compassionate, more giving, and more patient through the strength of the Holy Spirit. I’m not setting any “reading” goals at this time. I do want to study God’s Word this year more thoroughly with concordances and such, though.
As a wife and mother…
I hope to become more compassionate, giving, and patient! (See above.) I sometimes tend to get sidetracked while doing things, and I want to be more intentional about giving my family my undivided attention when needed. I also hope to grow in my knowledge of simple living and living slowly, and cultivate that in my home.
On the homestead…
I hope to become more proficient at growing things. Hopefully we will run more fencing for the goats. We are looking into putting a shed-to-home on our property, either as a guest house or a space for our adult children. That should be a fun project if we go through with it! I’m also looking into purchasing a small flock of “fancy” chickens this spring, purely for my enjoyment. I also want to grow enough produce to really put my canner to good use this year, Lord willing.
Financially…
I want to commit to several “no spend” challenges this year. I want to commit to staying out of debt. We probably will purchase a new van this year, since ours is getting rather old. The only problem is prices right now. Have you seen used car prices lately? They are through the roof!
We have recently upped my husband’s 401(k) percentage to get the full employer match. We are late the game with this, I know. My husband’s employer has a great retirement program though, and we had to contribute 12% to get the full match. This past year we were more concerned with paying down our mortgage. But this is going to be the year of retirement, ha! With the employer match, 30% of my husband’s salary will be going into his 401(k), and I also have made the goal to fully fund both of our IRAs.

Health wise…
My goal is to just keep doing what I’m doing. Over the past few years, I’ve gotten a handle on my health pretty much. I gave up soft drinks three years ago. I eat mainly a vegan diet, and my fitness routine is working for me. Hooray!
Home Improvement Projects…
We hope to renovate the master bathroom, put a new roof on the house, level the floor underneath our fireplace, and build a new deck. And oh, the list keeps going! You might want to pray for my husband, ha!
Blog wise…
I hope to post at least three times a week most weeks. If you have any input regarding the content you’d like to read, please let me know!
Well, I guess that’s about it. Lots of goals, hopes, and dreams for 2022!
