How is your January going? I hope it has been wonderful! Now is a good time to think about all of the little blessings the Lord has given us so far this year, and to evaluate if we are working towards our goals.
Earlier in the week, I looked back at some of the hopes and dreams I had thought of about one year ago. I was hopeful for so many things. Some of my goals were accomplished, and others were not.
That’s the way it goes sometimes, isn’t it? I am continually reminded that the Lord guides our steps. The things I think I need…most of the time I don’t.
This January has been a lot like last year. For me, it is a time of reevaluation. What is working in our home and homestead? What is not? How is my walk with the Lord? How can I continue to grow in Him?
It has definitely been a time of introspection. I have spent time in His Word, and have been doing my best to think of ways to continue to streamline the tasks I do each day.
I’ve found joy in starting flower seeds, and in simply walking our land. There is such beauty in all of the simple gifts that surround us, friends. Each day, I grow more in love with our home, and the land it sits on.
This month I’ve decided to continue my aromatherapy studies. As January dawned, I decided that I would like to take an in-depth herbalist course. Well, after looking at the prices of these courses, I decided to hold off for awhile. I was discouraged, but then I remembered about an aromatherapy course I had signed up for five years ago, that I never completed. While it is not the same as herbalism, I would love to increase my knowledge about aromatherapy as well. Five years ago I did become certified in French Aromatherapy, and I truly enjoyed the program. Herbalism studies will come with time.
I’ve done what I could to soak in my children this month. My twenty-year-old daughter was unfortunately sick for awhile, which meant that she spent a lot more time than normal at home. Sad for her, but I did love seeing her more often. There have been lots of couch cuddles this month with my younger children. Being a mama is such a joy!
I’ve enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, especially during my sourdough day once a week. There is something special about baking bread in the winter!
I’ve soaked up this month so far, enjoying all of the little, simple things in my home. I hope you have had a lovely month too, sweet friend.
We have been given so many simple blessings from the Lord. Let’s do what we can to purposefully enjoy them.
This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:17-19, 21-24 NKJV
