Getting Our House in Order

Happy Sunday, friends. I hope you have a good day ahead of you. Lately, I have been writing posts a couple of weeks in advance. But this is me, today. I really would like to share a few things that have been on my heart.

Our world is in a bit of upheaval, isn’t it? While we most definitely need to trust in God for the outcome, there are some things we can do to prepare.

I cannot be sure where our economy is headed, but by looking at past trends it seems like we are in store for a correction. If a recession is imminent, doing whatever we can to lower our debt will be so helpful. I can’t help to think that a recession is coming. Our economy has been racing full throttle for awhile now, with monetary policies and synthetic growth like stimulus money funding it. At some point, reality will set in.

And friends, godliness with contentment is great gain. Those who are in the greatest debt will suffer the most if a recession hits. It would be so wise to lower your spending and really work hard to pay off as much of your debt now if you can. With God’s help, we can be content with what we have.

I have been reevaluating my family’s driving habits. Paying for gas is painful right now, isn’t it? Going forward, I will be condensing our trips to town as much as possible. I hope to implement a monthly master plan that allows for a couple of fun outings for our kids.

I also have been trying to evaluate gaps in our preparedness level and fill them accordingly. I’ve ordered water bricks for storage and more fruit trees. There is still so much I would like to accomplish, but as long as we are taking a step on the right direction each day I think it is a good thing.

We shouldn’t be overly worried. The Lord holds us in His hands. But I think it is smart to look at our homes and find both small and big ways we can become better prepared for the unknown.

She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.

Proverbs 31:27 NKJV
