I am so thankful for my husband. As I type, we are at the cusp of our 17th anniversary. It feels like a blink and a lifetime at the same time. How is that even possible? I know that if I feel this way already, I can hardly wait to see what our marriage continues to grow into.
Speaking of growth, I’ve grown a lot as a wife over the years. While I’m certainly not a perfect wife, I have learned more about how to become a better helper and companion as the years have passed.
Marriage definitely has a way of showing our flaws, loud and clear. It is so easy to be selfish in a marriage. But truly, for a marriage to thrive, we must think of the other more highly than ourselves.
My husband has been so good to me. He has shown me in so many ways how much he loves me, and he consistently puts my needs before his own. I’m very thankful for him.
We are planning to visit a local garden on our actual anniversary. This is just one example of his selflessness. I’m sure the garden wouldn’t have been his first pick, but he wanted me to pick out where we went. We visited this same garden last year, and it was so lovely. There were thousands of daffodils everywhere! It was quite the sight to behold.
For my anniversary gift, he is going to put our other projects on hold so he can add wood to our bedroom ceiling. He knows how much I love wood ceilings, and he placed a special order for the project a few days ago.
While marriage certainly takes a lot of hard work and dedication, he makes it easy. I think this is an important lesson to be learned.
Even if your spouse isn’t acting very lovely, love them anyway. And love them well. When we do this, it makes all the difference.
There definitely have been times when my husband was kind to me when I wasn’t being very thoughtful or nice myself. His actions pulled me out of my funk and made me want to love him more.
This has been a difficult year for me, and my husband was by my side every step of the way. Just knowing that he was always there for me meant so much.
It has been a beautiful, although sometimes messy, life! I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
I will be sure to update you with our anniversary adventures once they happen.
