Oh, is it ever hot outside today! I’ve been working in my garden a bit, and I had to come inside to get a big glass of cold water. Today’s gardening tasks have been for my pure enjoyment…I’ve planted hostas, dug up purple cone flower seedlings to be transplanted, and moved wild petunias into my flower beds.
Yesterday my husband and I spent some time together. It was so nice. We got Mexican food to go and ate snow cones. I picked out the hostas I planted today and we then visited a local state park (pictured above) to walk for awhile. I was wearing a long dress and sandals, but we decided to go ahead and walk a two mile trail up and down a mountain. I probably looked quite comical! We nearly jogged since the park was closing in under an hour, and I wanted to make sure we had time to walk around the Cherokee farmstead in a different area as well.
Well, we made it in around thirty minutes. It was so glorious to walk among the trees just as the sun started to get low overhead. It was so nice to spend this time with my husband.
I was reminded of how wonderful all of the simple blessings from the Lord truly are. Once I might have taken this time for granted, but not today.

My husband and I have been married for seventeen years, and I am so thankful for him. Sure, life isn’t always perfect. But our life is just right for me. We were able to have such a lovely time on a budget yesterday. We thought a little outside of the box, searching for a couple of things close to home to enjoy together. Take that, gas prices. We live super close to the Tennessee border, and thankfully Tennessee State Parks are free for all to experience.
Friends, my hope lately is that I take all of life in. Each and every moment. I know that the Lord has given me this life as a gift to live for Him. Simple moments like yesterday reminded me of that.
My husband and I are very comfortable with each other, but I still made an effort to be agreeable and pleasant. I sometimes struggle with being disagreeable when I shouldn’t be. But this is no way for me to be. When I remember to be pleasant and kind, the day is just so much better. I don’t know of any man who wants to be around a disagreeable wife!
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Proverbs 16:24
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
This morning when I woke up, I thought about our day together. I was reminded to appreciate the gifts God gave me, and to be especially thankful for my husband. I also purposed in my heart to be helpful, pleasant, and kind. These things certainly glorify God as well.
Our husbands will surely be grateful if we appreciate our time together, no matter how simple. Also, it is wonderful to remember that a pleasant wife usually equals a happy husband! We should want to give our men good things all of the days of our lives.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today, friends. I hope you have a lovely day!
