Let’s Encourage Our Children to Hide God’s Word in Their Hearts

I am wrapping up loose ends, and have finished purchasing most of our home school material for this school year. How exciting! I feel like I “officially” embarked on our homeschool journey when my oldest was three, so this is my 19th year of homeschooling. I hope to share my curriculum choices with you soon.

You would think that it gets old, but it doesn’t. Sure, there are ups and downs. But I am so grateful to be my children’s teacher, and I don’t want to ever take that forgranted.

Along with purchasing curriculum, I decided to purchase each of my children a new Bible. I hadn’t purchased a Bible for them in ages, and I thought a fresh one was in order. My two youngest children did not have their own complete Bible, and I thought it was time to fix this! (I am still looking for a toddler Bible for my two-year-old, but hopefully I will find what I have in mind soon.)

The idea came to me when I purchased new tabs for one of my Bibles. My middle girls watched me with excitement as I put them in. I just knew that I would like to get a special Bible for each of them!

I started looking for Bibles at a local Books A Million, and came up empty handed. I then turned to Christianbook.com and found what I was looking for.

I ended up purchasing a NKJV Devotional Bible for four of my daughters, and a NKJV Girls Bible for my almost six-year-old. I also purchased a Complete Jewish Study Bible for a few of my older children.

While we have Bible study time at home, and I include Bible study in our homeschool, I hope that my children will have a desire to study God’s Word on their own.

The Bible is life changing. Reading it helps me so much. Providing a Bible for each of our family members is a great way to encourage that our children spend time in it on their own.

I also purchased tabs for several of my daughters. I hope they love them! I hope to purchase stickers and pens for them to write notes in the margins. Doing this has made Bible study come alive for me.

It is also nice to hang Scripture in our home. I hope that the verses we have displayed will stay in my children’s hearts forever.

How can a young man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to Your word.
With my whole heart I have sought You;
Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.

Blessed are You, O Lord!
Teach me Your statutes.
With my lips I have declared
All the judgments of Your mouth.
I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
As much as in all riches.
I will meditate on Your precepts,
And contemplate Your ways.

Psalm 119:9-15

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. May God bless you and your family.
