Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might. -Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord. -Colossians 3:23
Good morning, friends. I hope you have a lovely weekend ahead of you!
Lately, I have been pondering the things that I do. Sometimes while I go about my daily chores, I don’t think much about them.
I just want to get them done! Do you know what I mean?
When I do this, I miss out on a great opportunity. I lose out on the blessing of dedicating my work to the Lord.
No matter what we do, our tasks can be a blessing to ourselves and others if we do them with all of our might with God in mind. This is totally different from the “get it done” mindset. Instead, we should aim to do it right!
Sometimes I work as fast as I can in order to take a break. While I’m working, I can be praying and thanking God for the tasks He has given me to do.
I want to be a good example for my family. If I treat my work as drudgery, what are they learning?
Sometimes my children complain about their work. Did they learn that from me? Quite possibly. Instead, I should aim to work diligently with a contented spirit.
The Scriptures teach us to do everything with all of our might. Whether it be homemaking, homeschooling, or any other task He has put before us. When we do this, we are showing the world around us a different and better way to live. In our culture that desires work to be quick and easy, let’s instead do our work well.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. I hope your day is full of the Lord’s blessings!
