My Faith is Precious to Me

What a nice day it is. I’m sitting down at my desk to write, which rarely happens around here. The day is calm, and there haven’t been any major events to speak of. Overall, my children have gotten along and everyone is excited for Thanksgiving break. Even me. I don’t have too much on my plate this week other than cooking and a Thanksgiving 5k, and I’m looking forward to a break in our regular schedule.

Our family considers Saturday to be the Biblical Sabbath, since it is the seventh day of the week. So I like to write about the Lord, and possibly Biblical truths that I’m learning on this day. Of course, the Lord should be the focus of everything we do. But it’s nice to set aside a time to really think about my faith on this blog.

My faith is precious to me. It has changed through the years, and I definitely see some things differently than I used to. I’m sure in 5-10 years, I will have likely changed again.

I don’t think a believer’s life is meant to be stagnant. The Lord is always stretching and growing those who are His. I am constantly learning new ways to be a follower of God through His Son.

The preciousness of my faith has caused me to be “overzealous” at times. At least, that is what I’ve been told. But is there such a thing as being too on fire for God? I don’t think so.

I think we should regard our faith like the treasure that it is. Even though we can’t see it, it is real. While it is much easier to hold onto the things of this world, one day all of that will slip away. What will be left is our faith and testimony.

Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

-Revelation 14:12

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

-Revelation 12:11

I do not want to love my life to the death. No, I want to be an overcomer!

Friends, it is so easy to love our life in the here and now. I fall into this as well sometimes. While we should appreciate and be thankful for God’s blessings, we need to remember that our faith is more important than anything else.
