Becoming a Daughter of God

It is a cool and cozy evening around here. The sun just set over the trees, and the kitchen has almost been put to rest for the night. My husband has diligently worked on our half bathroom renovation all day, and I prepped a few meals in the kitchen. It has been a blessed day.

While it isn’t when I’d normally be writing to you, I somehow feel compelled to. Perhaps the Lord is leading me to it. I have felt a stirring in my spirit over the past couple of days, that is for sure.

I have wanted to sit, and take in His Word more often than not. I have been quieter, seeking the will of our wonderful Father. This has felt strange amongst our bustling household.

Sometimes friends, the Lord wants us to just sit. To listen. To tune out the noise around us, and to concentrate on Him and His plans.

I wish I could say that I always know what His plans are. I don’t. Perhaps it’s better this way. I think it is wise to accept what comes to us as it comes.

But the Lord is good to always show us the Way He would like us to go, even if we do not see an exact roadmap before hand. He spells it out so many things plainly, even if we would rather think that He doesn’t.

He wants His daughters to live joyfully lives of gentle meekness. Do I always live up to this? No. But thankfully, the Lord always turns me back when I go astray. Usually all it takes is a gentle nudge from the Scriptures.

But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. – 1 Peter 3:4

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. – Matthew 5:5

In this world, we often feel a push to always be more and do more. I feel it, too. I sometimes step out of the gentle meekness He desires for me, and instead look to the world for answers. This never works, friends.

While it may seem countercultural, the Lord wants us to continually seek Him and follow His Ways. He wants us to be His precious daughters.

And as His daughters, should anything else matter? No, it probably shouldn’t. Being His daughter is a great honor and privilege. He has redeemed us from this wicked world, and has called us to be lights in the darkness. Lights for our families, and lights for others to see.

We truly live in a time where a woman who lives her life for the Most High sticks out from others around here. Women who are gentle, meek, joyful, modest, patient, and kind are difficult to come by.

I have felt a nudge to step back from some of my own ideas and thoughts, and take more time studying the Scriptures. We need to let Him, and not ourselves, shine through.

He is all that matters. He is literally holding us, along with all of creation, together right now.

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. – Colossians 1:17

I’d like to encourage you to look to Him in all that you do. If you get counsel from someone that disagrees with the Word of God, don’t follow it. If you have a conviction that you know the Lord has given to you, hold to it. Even a Christian counselor isn’t a match for the Word of God. His Word and stirrings always win.

He is always good. And He loves you so much!

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, friends. Let’s serve our homes and families well, and remember that we are daughters of the King.
