A Good Woman

By the grace of God, I long to be a “good woman.”

I want to be someone whom my family can count on. I hope to always take care of my family and home well.

I especially want to be a good wife. I didn’t have an example of that growing up, and I’ve made many mistakes.

Sometimes I overlook my husband’s needs. While I am now learning to cook healthy meals, it hasn’t always been that way. Just last night, I noticed that I needed to take care of cleaning my husband’s sink area. He helps brush our little ones teeth, and while my sink was clean, his was not. I wish I would have noticed this sooner!

While these are just a few physical examples of how I hope to take care of my husband, a godly woman’s life goes deeper than that.

She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

I want to be trustworthy and genuine towards my husband. I only want to do him good.

In the above verse, the phrase “will do” indicates a constant future action. I hope my husband knows that he can trust in me, and that I live up to this verse each and every day.

While of course we will have off days, a good woman is dependable. Proverbs 31:12 says that she will do him good “all the days of her life.” This is such a blessing to give to our husbands!

We can do this by thinking of ways to meet his needs. We can be a blessing by pleasing him. And let’s not forget to pray for him always.

I hope you are encouraged today to do your husband good. Let’s remember to serve our home and family well with the Lord’s help!
