Accepting Our Homes

(A peek at my home earlier this year. Welcome, friends!)

I love being at home, and even cleaning it isn’t that bad. Today was our “home blessing” day, and I cleaned toilets, swept floors, and washed windows. After an hour or two, it felt like such a comfortable and beautiful place. Now I’m settled in for a relaxing evening and writing to you, dear reader.

Today I was thinking about our home and how grateful I am for it, and I’d love to share a few thoughts with you.

As wives and mamas (especially ones who stay home all day), I know sometimes our homes can feel stifling. I used to wish that I could leave my home more often, instead of thinking of ways to improve it and take care of it.

As I’ve grown older, I realized how misguided my thinking was. I’ve been given this place to live by God! My husband and I have worked hard to pay it off, and it is my domain! I have been asked to tend to it and make it beautiful. What could be better?

If you think of it, God is the one who decided we should live where we do. As such, I should be very grateful for it, because He knows best. He knows every little thing we need, and provides for us.

What message are we sending our families and friends if we complain about our homes? In retrospect, I’ve realized I’ve done this before and I truly regret it. One home in particular, I complained a lot about. Ugh. I wish I could take it back now!

I’m in my early-forties, and I can see the hand of God on my life and the “why” behind a lot of our homes now. What I thought was a burden was really a blessing. I see now why certain doors were closed when with all my heart I hoped they would open.

Life is funny that way, isn’t it?

No matter where we live, God wants it to be a peaceful place for our families to dwell in. Peace brings about so many blessings!

I’d love to encourage you to take one step to make your home more peaceful or beautiful today. This will definitely bless both you and your family!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, friends.

Blessings, Nicole

Homemaker Happenings | April 7, 2023

Good morning, friends! Ah, what a beautiful day it is. I’m so thankful to the Lord for giving us this morning.

Over the past few days I’ve really enjoyed typing out my thoughts and sharing with you. Sometimes the well seems like its run dry, and sometimes I just want to share so much. There are definitely seasons to this blogging journey.

Above all, I’d like to encourage you to not give up hope. There are so many blessings to be had in homemaking if we embrace them.

Yesterday I had a little headache, which was strange for me. I used to have headaches all of the time, but since I started exercising regularly and eating plant based they stopped. Now if I get one, they are usually triggered by stress. I rested for a little while, and started to feel much better.

We worked through our homeschool things, and I got vegetable and rice soup in the crockpot. I decided that we would eat leftover flatbread along with it, which made dinner prep so easy!

I started to get together goodie bags for Counting the Omer. I’ve never done this before, and I’m really excited to start counting. The fifty days between Passover and Shavuot (Pentecost) represent the days in the wilderness between leaving Egypt and the giving of the law at Sinai. I bought a box of party favors from Amazon, and my children will receive a trinket each day.

At the last minute, several of us drove to the home improvement store to pick up wood for my husband’s latest project. Our new covered patio is coming together nicely. I am so grateful for this space, and I can’t wait until we begin using it!

My husband is now off of work for four days, and I’m so excited to have him home!

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today, friends.

Blessings, Nicole
