Mom Chat | Life Updates, New Planner, Plus a Favorite Recipe Book

Hello friends, and welcome. I hope you have had a blessed week so far!

Today I would like to share a new “Mom Chat” video with you from my YouTube channel. I do enjoy taking the time to sit down and chat with you!

I really am enjoying the new planner I am using this year so far. It was very inexpensive and from Walmart.

I also love a good recipe book. Today I share one of my favorite ones that sits on my bookshelf.

I love being a homemaker, wife, and mom, and I also have a few life updates for you.

I hope you are encouraged, and know that you are not alone in your homemaking journey. The Lord cares about you so much, and we can dedicate our lives to Him while living abundantly.

Thank you so much for stopping by today, friends. I will talk to you soon!

God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swellin

All Natural Wax Melt Recipe

We have a full house, and I’m often looking for something to make it smell nice. I’ve been committed to clean our home on a more natural level for awhile now. I don’t do everything perfectly, but I try!

I often use an essential oil diffuser to freshen the air. And while I love diffusers to disperse oil during sickness, I began looking for a way to hopefully stretch the good scents throughout more of our home.

Like Citrus Cream from Edens Garden. This is one of my all time favorite blends for both smelling nice and lifting my spirits. Citrus oils are great for that! It contains pure Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Bergamot, Tangerine, Clementine, and Vanilla CO2 essential oils.

I decided to look more into wax warmers to see if they would do what I was looking for. And yes, I believe they do!

Unfortunately, most of the wax melts found in the market are full with synthetic fragrances that I didn’t want my babies breathing in. I wanted something safe that wasn’t riddled with unnecessary chemicals. So I decided to make my own, and I thought I would share a simple recipe for wax melts with you today.

First of all, I looked for a silicon mold that I could easily pop the melts out of. I ended up with a gummy animal mold from Amazon that my kiddos love.

These are the molds I purchased. Can you see why my kids love them? I’m using two for wax molds, and am saving two to make elderberry gummies in the future.

Then, I collected three simple ingredients… coconut oil, beeswax, and the essential oil of my choice. Of course I used Citrus Cream essential oil, but pretty much anything can be used.

After melting the coconut oil and beeswax in my homemade double boiler (a stainless steel bowl set on top of a small saucepan of 2 inches of boiling water), I added 100 drops of essential oil. This seems like a lot, but is necessary since essential oils are not always as strong as a synthetic fragrance. Going the natural route is worth it, though!

I then used the dropper that came with my molds to fill the shapes. I put the molds in the freezer for a few minutes to set, and then my kids enjoyed popping them out into a mason jar.

To keep them nice and firm before melting, I stuck the jar in the fridge. When you want to use your wax warmer, take a few out (since mine are so small) and pop them in. So simple and easy!

Ready to start melting! I purchased my wax warmer here.

I hope you enjoy this recipe! I’ve included it below for your use.

All Natural Wax Melts

4 tablespoons Beeswax Flakes (I purchased this from Amazon).

1/2 cup Coconut Oil (I purchased this from Walmart).

100 drops of Essential Oil

Mix the beeswax flakes and coconut oil until melted over a double boiler. Remove from heat, and add essential oil. Stir well. Pour or drop into silicon mold until set. Pop out of the molds and put them into a sealed container before use.

I hope you enjoy your wax melts!

My Husband’s Favorite Granola Bars

Good afternoon, ladies! I hope you have had a good day so far. I have been busy sewing skirts for my Etsy shop, homeschooling, cleaning out my closet, and baking a batch of granola bars for my husband.

My husband loves to snack on these, and I thought I’d share the recipe with you! They are very simple to make, and my kiddos enjoy helping me mix the ingredients.

Cranberry Almond Granola Bars

Dry Ingredients

4 cups of Old-fashioned oats

1 cup dried cranberries

1 cup sliced almonds

2/3 cup unsweetened coconut flakes

Wet Ingredients

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup honey

3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl and set aside. Put the coconut oil and honey in a saucepan, and cook on low to medium heat until the coconut oil has melted. Remove from heat, and stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the wet ingredient mixture over the dry ingredients, and mix well. Pour the granola onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet, and press down. Bake on 250 degrees for one hour.

Once the granola has cooled, cut into squares or bars.

I hope you enjoy this recipe if you try it!

Now I must get back to my day. Oh, I also wanted to let you know that my Etsy shop is running a 10% off sale right now. This afternoon I will be working on shirt orders along with hopefully planting kohlrabi starts! So much fun!

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
